1. Purpose and overview

This software is made source-available to ensure transparency, security and developer integration while protecting the original work, source code, visual identity and assets of the Aryston project.

By downloading, installing, using or accessing the source code of this software, you agree to the terms of this license.

2. Permissions (what you can do)

Subject to the terms of this license, you are granted permission to:

Play and use: install and play the mods for personal, non-commercial or commercial purposes, including on public and private multiplayer servers.
Content creation: record videos, livestream, take screenshots and monetize gameplay content featuring the mods (for example on YouTube or Twitch) without restriction.
Modpacks: include the official, unmodified binaries in modpacks distributed through authorized platforms such as Modrinth and CurseForge.
Customization and addons: create and distribute configuration files, resource packs, presets and third-party addon mods that extend or interact with the mods. You may use a mod's name only to indicate compatibility (for example "MyPack for Arkea").
API and developer integration: compile, link and build independent mods against the public APIs. Your own independent code may be licensed under terms of your choosing.
Inspect and compile locally: view the source code, modify it for strictly personal, private local use, or submit contributions (pull requests) to the official repositories.

3. Restrictions (what you cannot do)

Without explicit, prior written permission from Aryston, you may not:

Redistribute or mirror: re-upload, mirror or distribute the software, in whole or in part, in binary or source form, on any website, launcher or platform outside the official project pages.
Publish forks: publish, release or distribute modified copies, clones or forks.
Copy or extract: copy, extract or incorporate source code, shaders, algorithms, textures, interface layouts or proprietary assets into other projects or mods.
Misuse the brand: use the names Aryston, Helion or Arkea, or their logos and branding, in a way that implies official endorsement or affiliation, or to brand a separate project.

4. Contributions

Pull requests, patches and other contributions submitted to official Aryston repositories become subject to this license when accepted, granting Aryston the perpetual, irrevocable right to distribute and license the contributed code as part of the project.

5. Disclaimer of warranty and limitation of liability

THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NONINFRINGEMENT. IN NO EVENT SHALL THE AUTHORS OR COPYRIGHT HOLDERS BE LIABLE FOR ANY CLAIM, DAMAGES OR OTHER LIABILITY ARISING FROM THE USE OF THE SOFTWARE.

Third-party components keep their own licenses, listed in each repository's THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.md (Helion, Arkea).
